The theme of this community artwork was speculative futures. Working with the Kingston community, the concept was to empower peoples’ ability to affect the future by first allowing them to imagine it. In short, inspiring people to have ownership over the direction of their communities.
A Community Focused Art Installation
We ran a bunch of workshops with people from the Kingston community, of all age groups from children to adults. With all the data collected from these workshops, I re-interpreted it and created these cardboard installations as well as an animation. Together, all these ideas are flattened to these surfaces, equal and working together.
The Bird of the Future
The Bird of the Future was an interactive section of the exhibition where everyone was invited to come and draw their ideas for the future on it. You can see here in the pictures how it evolved over the duration of the exhibition.
